STS9 Cancels Feb/March Shows – David Murphy Fighting Cancer

STS9 is calling off nearly all of its scheduled performances because bassist David Murphy has been diagnosed with cancer.
In a statement posted to STS9’s website, Murphy explained that a cancerous tumor was recently discovered in his sinus cavity.
Before undergoing surgery, Murphy and the band will still perform in Mexico this weekend as part of Mayan Holidaze.
The event takes place Jan. 20-24 at Now Sapphire, a resort on the Mayan Riviera in Mexico, located 15 minutes south of Cancun.
Along with STS9, the lineup features Disco Biscuits, Umphrey’s McGee, The Album Leaf, Bonobo, Emancipator, Orchard Lounge and an acoustic set from 30db’s Brendan Bayliss & Jeff Austin.
All of the rest of the band’s scheduled performances all canceled. The shows would have taken place throughout the U.S. Feb. 4-March 11.
