SONG PREMIERE: Crowd Company Unleash Explosive, Danceable Funk Sound on “Are You Feeling It”

With their 8-piece modern take on vintage soul funk, Crowd Company are brimming with energy and a raw edge, catchy hooks, and tight grooves. The band combines a retro Hammond organ-based sound with a virtuoso horn section, soulful lead, and harmony vocals, and they proudly evoke the spirit of 60s and early 70s funk as well as modern day funk jam bands whilst also focusing on strong soulful songwriting.

Crowd Company are renowned for dynamic, engaging live performances. The band have drawn accolades from their musical peers and have shared the stage with the likes of George Porter Jr from The Meters, Daptone’s Saun & Starr, Alan Evans Trio, The New Mastersounds, Monophonics. Luckily, their dynamic live show has finally been captured, and on April 12th the band will release their 3rd album Live at the Jazz Cafe. The album recorded at a sold out gig at London’s famous ‘Jazz Café’ venue. The album was recorded live and mixed by Alan Evans at Iron Wax studios.

Today Glide is excited to premiere the energetic track “Are You Feeling It”. With an explosive barrage of drums, saxophone and brass the song fires out of the gate with tight grooves and superb musicianship. Between the Hammond organ-based sound with a virtuoso horn section, killer rhythm section and three outstanding soulful singers, the song encapsulates what makes Crowd Company such a fun act. The band mixes funk, jazz, and more pop and rock-based acts like the Talking Heads to stir up one hell of a party, and with this track you feel like you’re in the room as you inevitably fight the urge to jump out of your chair and dance. There’s also plenty of jazz-laden solos from the band members, each of whom demonstrates instrumental prowess.

The band shares the story behind the song and its recording:

“’Are You Feeling It’ was recorded live at a sold out show at London’s Jazz Cafe venue. That night we were on the bill with Soulive. It was actually the show opener and had people dancing from the outset, it was a terrific atmosphere that night and the song captures the feel good vibe of the show.

This song was originally recorded on our first studio album. Since then we recorded our last studio album ‘Stone & Sky’. With this new live album we wanted to capture the energy and atmosphere of our live set. We are really pleased how it came out. The album was mixed and produced by Alan Evans and released is released on the Vintage League Music label.

The song in fabulous conditions recording at Iron Wax studios in Massachusetts, a fabulous experience for a band from London England. Alan Evans (Soulive) produced the track and created the ideal working conditions and sound for us to realize our vision for the song.”
