Nick Murphy (formerly Chet Faker) performed songs solo for a private audience at Sotheby’s in New York City on April 2nd. Murphy said it’s the first time he has performed songs for an audience off his forthcoming LP Run Fast Sleep Naked out on Downtown Records on April 26th.
Included in the performance was the catchy lead single from the album “Sanity” as well as “Harry Takes Drugs On The Weekend” a song Murphy referred to as “his favorite song he’s ever written” and a standout track on the album. The solo performance allowed Murphy to expand on the more cohesive sound of the album, drawing out some of the tracks for the stripped-down performance with only a piano and electric guitar.
Run Fast Sleep Naked is a solid addition to Nick’s catalog and expands his footprint as an artist you should be paying attention to both now and in the future.
