Music’s Modern-Day Gaming Aficionados.

Many of those in the line of entertainment have historically found themselves drawn to games in order to pass away long hours on the road or even in between sets.

The Eagles played so much poker that they even devised their own version of the game, Motörhead extolled the virtues of “The Ace of Spades” and even Lady Gaga has been fond of working on her “Poker Face”.

These days many performing artists continue to pursue this trend, although in the digital age many tend to be heading online to frag, blast, puzzle and weave their way to glory and momentary happiness, before being thrust into the spotlight once more.

Here are just some of music’s modern-day gaming aficionados.

Sometimes the only way to relax after a tough gig is to let loose on a game

Dave Mustaine – Megadeth

Megadeth’s brood have long had their fingers into so much more than just thrash metal, with the band producing tracks for video games as varied as Duke Nukem, Guitar Hero and Gears Of War.

It, therefore, comes as no surprise that one of their number is an avid gamer, with their chief songwriter being completely obsessed with The Punisher. There have even been rumors of a Megadeth-inspired game coming to fruition, and who wouldn’t want to see their unique form of mayhem brought into game format?

Who knows when you might find yourself up against Justin Bieber!

Justin Bieber

When it comes to gaming this pop star is very much a belieber and although his music might not be quite to everyone’s liking, his taste in games is very much on point, with the Canadian record breaker enjoying the sort of games produced by developers like PokerStars and Activision.

Just as invested in live sports as he is esports, Bieber is also heavily into the official NHL game made by EA Sports, where he always chooses to play as his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.

Jack Black

Although he is more a movie star these days than a musician, few can deny that the Tenacious D front man still has the skill to thrill with a guitar in his capable hands.

When he is not making Hollywood blockbusters or penning hit songs, Black likes nothing more than thrusting himself into an online melee or battlefield.

He went one step further than many musicians by even setting up his very own online gaming YouTube channel called JablinskiGames. Despite being a tongue-in-cheek jibe at some of the online gaming community’s habits and quirks the channel has no less than four and a half million subscribers and has featured other gaming nuts such as Tony Hawk and Dwayne Johnson.

Snoop Dogg

If there is one music genre that has adopted gaming above all others then it is undoubtedly rap, with so many rappers as dedicated to their controllers and keypads as they are to their mics.

Never one to be left behind, Snoop put himself firmly in the gaming spotlight when he decided to do special voice overs for Call of Duty: Ghosts, meaning you can listen to his dulcet tones as you go about clearing house.

Ariana Grande

Any roadie rocking an “I Love Mum” tattoo or the like will know that nothing shows dedication quite like some ink and scar tissue.

Such was Ariana Grande’s love of Pokémon Go for the Nintendo Switch, she decided to get her very own Pokémon etched into her arm. The cute fox-like creature now accompanies her on stage wherever she goes, making it clear to everyone that this is one singer who adores a game or two.

T-Pain

When you have a name like this you are almost duty-bound to bring the pain on the online battlefield.

T-Pain does just that, even streaming his live gameplay via Amazon’s live streaming platform, Twitch. Why not go and check him out!
