Tommy Alexander is a music industry renaissance man. Having his hand in every aspect of music, along with plenty of traveling, has given him a refreshing worldview and new perspective that shines through his music. With multiple self-released projects that have garnered critical acclaim, Alexander is making another leap in his career. His recent signing to Fluff and Gravy Records is bringing us his first full-length in two years. Feelings is due out on October 28 but before the project is released, Alexander gifted us with the haunting single “Silence”.
This particular project was recorded in Nashville not too long after Alexander made the move to the southern state. Meeting a group of local musicians through a poker game, he built a band that understands his honest sense of songwriting perfectly, and together they created a single that sounds like a stormy evening of reminiscing.
The new single features the songwriter’s menacing vocals over arena-filling production. As ominous as the chord progressions are, it’s Alexander’s lyrics that cast a dark cloud over everything in its path. He croons about the mysteries of what happens in the dark and personifies “Silence” as a monster that is never too far behind. The layered harmonies of the hook add extra depth to an already deeply textured track, creating an atmosphere where questioning everything is welcomed and nothing is promised.
Feelings is out on October 28 via Fluff and Gravy Records. Check out “Silence” below:
