With a band name like Have Gun, Will Travel, one might be quickly reminded of an American Western TV series from days bygone, yet the only thing throwback with these Florida rockers is their hard-chugging riffs that recall early 90s rockers Brother Cane and Drivin N Cryin. With urgent vocal stylings that summon a deviant charm, one can tell why these guys don’t give a fuck and have been making music on their own terms for the better part of the past two decades.

While the band was previously known for more acoustic string band experiments that were more Avett Brothers than Blackberry Smoke, the pandemic certainly got them loud and vivacious. . The group is set to release their latest EP, Silver Sounds, on September 30th and plan to follow with a companion EP Voyager Golden in early 2023.

Glide is premiering the “Resist the Machines,” off the Silver Sounds EP a daring guitar rocker that sounds as if CCR jammed with Arctic Monkeys in a sweltering juke joint.

“This is a song about our ever-increasing dependence on technology. Our friend (and photographer and producer of our Science from an Easy Chair album) Shawn Kyle helped us reign in the production on this one,” says Matt Burke.

“Speaking of the full EP, we recorded everything at Scott [Anderson]’s home studio, Everlovin’ Studios in Safety Harbor, Florida. We tracked off and on from roughly summer of ’20 to summer of ’21. So…pretty much throughout the entirety of COVID lockdown. I think everyone’s headspace was a little weird throughout that time. Things were kind of scary for a while there. Global pandemic, civil unrest, the Capitol riot. Turbulent times for everybody. It really helps to have an outlet like songwriting and creating music to let those fears, anxieties. and uncomfortable thoughts out of your head.”

  1. I love it, having followed this band since their inception I really like the more rocking vibe, actually got up and danced during that. Can’t wait to hear it all live!
