Liam Gallagher Rumored To Create Band With Stone Roses’ Jon Squire

For the last 24 hours, our timelines and news feeds have been covered with classic moments from the Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher. The generational act celebrated a birthday yesterday (September 21) and in a moment of unity, we all showed our appreciation for the man himself and the music he’s created. While we’re a couple of hours removed from his birthday, you may still see the English songwriter popping up on your social media. Gallagher continues to make headlines as he all but confirmed that he is teaming up with The Stone Roses’ John Squire to form a supergroup together.

According to a report from NME, These rumors started back in June during Gallagher’s performance at his two-day residency at Knebworth Park when he brought Squire on stage for a rendition of the classic Oasis track “Champagne Supernova”. The rumors really kicked up after Gallagher took to twitter to say “Super group incoming LG JS”.

During a recent stop at Apple Music’s Beats 1 Radio, host Matt Wilkinson interviewed Gallagher and asked if there are any updates on the cryptic tweet from a few months back. Gallagher’s response wasn’t a yes but it also wasn’t a no, when asked about the aforementioned supergroup Gallagher responded;  “But, no. There’s talk about summat. Maybe. But no rush. He’s my man, I love him. So if he’s got any tunes that need singing, I’m the boy, mate.” While there is no real confirmation as to when these two will be in the studio, fans rejoice at just the thought that these two might actually be working together sooner rather than later.

Gallagher has been touring all year in support of his latest full-length LP, C’MON YOU KNOW, which was released in May of this year. Check out Gallagher and Squire’s performance from Knebworth below;
