Butch Walker Brings Fiery Two-Set Throwdown To Philadelphia’s Brooklyn Bowl With Guest Adam Weiner (PHOTOS)

Butch Walker and his band kicked off their headlining show at Philadelphia’s Brooklyn Bowl on October 25th with the high-energy song “Bodegas and Blood,” and from there it never really slowed down.  The set was a nice mix of new and old and drew from albums like Stay Gold, The Spade, and American Love Story.

The crowd was treated to a few songs from his latest album Butch Walker as….Glen, which included “Holy Water Hangover” and “Roll Away(Like a Stone).” The show was divided into three sets: two with the band and one which was a fan request set that had Walker playing solo. Prior to the show, fans got to put their song requests into a bucket at the merch table. That bucket would later find its way to Walker’s piano. It was one of the highlights of the show as it gave him a chance to slow down and talk with the crowd.

The first song requested was “Best Thing You Never Had,” which prompted the first full-on sing-along of the night. Walker said he’d need a little help with the next request which was the live debut of “Pretty Crazy” so one of the bartenders said they’d hook him up with a shot of tequila. When the song My Way was picked, Walker shook his head and said he has not performed that song in over twenty years. He then called the fans sadistic fucks for requesting it. Fellow City of Brotherly Love rock and roller Adam Weiner of Low Cut Connie came out for a cover of his own “Stay A Long As You Like.”

The night ended in epic fashion when Walker told the crowd that when they hear him say the magic words of “go crazy”, he wants to see thirty seconds of arms and legs flailing and really bad dancing. The crowd happily obliged when the band kicked into an eight-minute version of “Hot Girls in Good Moods.”
