Dominic Fike Kicks Off “Out Of Order” Tour At Seattle’s Showbox (RECAP)

Dominic Fike by Daniel Prakopcyk

Last Night (November 6), the multi-instrumentalist/songwriter Dominic Fike kicked off his Out of Order in Seattle, Washington at The Showbox. This is Fike’s first tour since his outing back in 2019, besides a select few festival appearances sprinkled in between the two tours. Fike has been hard at work outside of music, diving into acting and modeling gigs, with his only solo musical release since 2020 coming in the form of “Elliot’s Song”, which was a part of the Euphoria Season 2 soundtrack. With the Florida-bred artist now heading back out on the road, fans are flocking to the now sold-out tour to get a glimpse of the mysterious artist and what he may be planning next.

There was a lot of mystique circulating around Dominic Fike back in 2018 when it was rumored that Columbia Records shelled out millions of dollars to sign the Florida-born artist. Around that time Fike had uploaded a collection of practically unfinished songs to his Soundcloud in the form of Don’t Forget About Me, Demos. The stand-out song from the album, the hard-hitting pop track “3 Nights” introduced the world to Fike’s genre-bending charm that bounces from infectious melodies to rapid-fire, cleverly-constructed rap verses all within a 3-minute song. At the time “3 Nights” was gaining wide attention, Fike was serving time in prison and going through the court system all while his manager was juggling multi-million dollar deals from major labels. At the core of all these large sums of money and legal issues was a young, guitar-strumming 20-something whose natural talent will go on to outshine any of the headlines. His hit-filled demo tape was followed up by a few singles before a proper debut was issued, 2020’s What Could Possibly Go Wrong. Two years later we have seen Fike take to Hollywood well, being cast in the award-winning TV show Euphoria and booking gigs with Calvin Klein. Judging by the setlist from last night’s tour, Fike is getting ready to get back to the music.

The most noticeable aspect of this current tour is the addition of two unreleased songs to Fike’s setlist. The first one, “Frisky”, was teased in a now deleted Instagram clip and only featured the unforgettable hook and one verse filled with raw energy. The version of “Frisky” performed live last night seemed to be the full and final version with the addition of a second verse. The second unreleased tune goes by the name “Think Fast”, which based on the snippets from the show seems like a melancholy-laced ballad.

The rest of the show was filled with songs spanning Fike’s young career. Classics like “3 Nights”, “She Wants My Money”, and “Babydoll” from his infamous demo tape were performed. Along with his classics, Fike turned to non-album tracks as well by adding songs like “Açaí Bowl” and “Rollerblades” to the setlist, two singles from 2019. Fike continued to reach outside of his albums by going through songs like his Kenny Beats collaboration “Phone Numbers” and “The Kiss of Venus”, a reworking of the Paul McCartney song from the 2021 remix album McCartney III Imagined. The remainder of the setlist was taken up by songs from Fike’s 2020 debut.

Dominic Fike will be taking his tour all across the country until the end of the month. He is hitting Vancouver on November 9 before heading back to the states for stops in Austin, Atlanta, Florida, and Philadelphia to name a few.
