VIDEO PREMIERE: Hearts Gone South Offers Deep Pocket Waylon/Willie Groove On “Thirstin’ At The Well”

Hearts Gone South is a country band based out of Asheville, NC, with members hailing from Bristol VA & TN as well. They play original, old-style country and honky tonk, full of heart and soul, laced with wit and woe bringing fire and feeling to age-old stories of love, loss, and victory for the underdog. Members are Tricia Tripp – lead vocals and songwriter, JP Parsons – tele, acoustic guitar, and vocals, Ian Wade – bass and vocals, Steve Earnest – pedal steel, Scott Thomas – drums.

Hearts Gone South just released their 3rd album, Mercy of Your Tide.  Recorded, mixed, and mastered by two-time Grammy nominee, Mike Stephenson at Classic Recording in Bristol VA in June of 2021. “Thirstin’ At The Well”the second single off the album, was originally written as more of a Bakersfield style, but once the band started working it out it morphed into a completely different style, with a more four-on-the-floor beat behind it. The Mercy of Your Tide album was mainly written in the height of the Pandemic, with band members sending recordings back and forth to build the bones of the songs until they could actually meet in person again.

Glide is premiering the video for “Thirstin’ At The Well”, where Hearts Gone South offers a down-home classic sound from the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Coming on strong with a deep-pocketed 70’s Waylon and Willie groove, the writing nimbly bridges the messy and complicated tribulations of the heart with the simplistic elegance that makes up the core of great country music. The accompanying video takes the same straightforward approach, showing off the natural beauty of Leicester, North Carolina to aptly compliment the track’s rural Southern roots.
