LISTEN: Luke Sital-Signh Brings On Rainy Day Folk Comfort Via “Strange Weather”

Sweet, simple, and focused on honoring the song, Luke Sital-Signh hits the mark with the opening track on his new EP “Strange Weather.” He’s framing the story around how the weather can affect your mood and outlook but grasping at larger ideas of the changed world since 2020. With the lyrics, “Overcrowded ghost town/ sun behind a dark cloud/ all my favorite spots have closed down/ nowhere to go now.” Always leading back to the refrain “Strange Weather, is it gonna go on forever?” Sonically, Luke is masterfully executing the sort of “epic folk” sound of Bon Iver or Gregory Allen Isakov with a precision that is uncommon right now. The dynamic lows have definition and feel while the high climactic moments don’t come off as forced or overproduced. Go check out “Strange Weather” and give the whole EP by the same name a spin.

“Weather is a big metaphor, It affects your mood and how you look at life. Rain makes everything worse. If it’s sunny again, the problems are there, but they seem easier to deal with. I’ve never made note of the atmosphere before. The metaphor carried on for me because everything was strange after the Pandemic. ‘Strange Weather’ was a summary of the EP and how I felt in general.”
