LISTEN: The Bergamot Blend Harmonic Syncopation & Dynamic Vocals On “Roll It Up”

The Bergamot is back in style with their fresh new single, “Roll It Up”. Sweet harmonies drive the song, effortlessly ranging from low to high and back again, blending lyrical cleverness and a groovy sonic feel. We’ve surely become familiar with the project and Nathaniel Paul’s solo outpourings, where we are accustomed to top-notch and tasteful production choices time and time again. “Roll It Up” is straight-up indie-pop fun with no BS to cloud up this sunny day track.

“Roll It Up is a breezy waltz in 3/4 that emits the sway of a summery getaway. I really wanted to create a playful mix of acoustic guitar and pitch-bending synths. The chorus melody is also supported by the acoustic guitar playing the same melody. So it’s a mix of syncopation and movement. We also wanted to drop the Bob Marley tune “Three Little Birds” because that is the song that got us through quarantine. The song was also mixed by Matt Wiggins – who is such an incredibly talented mix engineer. We are really proud of this song coming out in proximity to our documentary “State of the Unity” out Oct. 6th via Freestyle Digital Media,” says the duo.
