TUESDAY’S GONE: Radiohead “Airbag” Live On ‘Later With Jools Holland’ 1998

Sandwiched between the magnificent alt-rock melancholia of The Bends (which debatably has the best collection of songs of any Radiohead album), and before they started to disappear into the proverbial ether with the mind-melting, futuristic electronic gloom that characterized Kid A, Radiohead released what is largely considered to be their best overall album, OK Computer in 1997. A big reason it’s (arguably) earned that distinction is because it seems to capture the best of both worlds so to speak, balancing Radiohead’s budding electronic ambitions with their more sonically adventurous guitar-based sound, a sound that still sounds as fresh, groundbreaking, and thrilling today as it did when it was originally released, as evidenced by this fantastic performance from Later With Jools Holland way back in 1998.
