Rumor has it that Talking Heads recently turned down upwards of $80 million to reunite and play various festivals (namely Coachella) across the country. That’s a lot of money, but if any band were ever more about their art than fame and fortune, it was probably Talking Heads, or at least David Bryne in particular anyway. He was always the perennial creative driving force in the band, with his spastic oddball energy fueling the band’s brilliantly quirky brand of new-wave. And this absurdly awesome clip of Mr. Bryne interviewing himself through various characters in his trademarked oversized suit is delightfully entertaining to witness. It’s equal parts fascinating (“I like symmetry and geometric shapes”) and hilarious (“it’s like 60 Minutes on acid”), so get your popcorn out and soak in the bizarre genius of David Bryne in all his peak 80s-era glory.
