Check out Glide’s picks for the best new music of the week below.

Brittany Howard – “I Don’t”

What Now

The highly anticipated follow-up to her 2019 debut, Brittany Howard proves her creativity to be limitless. What Now is a psychedelic soul outing that relies on tropes from gospel as much as it does extermination. “I Don’t” is just one shining example of why you should be sprinting to this record, Howard’s falsettos glide over a funky yet subtle arrangement for a listening experience more akin to watching a lava lamp than anything else.

Pylon Reenactment Society – “Educate Me”

Magnet Factory

Pylon Reenactment Society harkens back to the early days of Georgia’s underground pop scene while pushing their signature sound forward. Magnet Factory is the 11-song outing that relies on off-kilter melodies and spurts of fierce punk to shape an exciting comeback for an underappreciated band. “Educate Me” shows the true range of the vocals as harmonies crash like a waterfall around bouncy tempos and gritty textures.

Madi Diaz – “Kiss the Wall”

Weird Faith

At the height of her popularity, Madi Diaz pens a vulnerable and moving LP. Weird Faith is one of the best-written albums you’ll hear this week as Diaz puts herself out there like she never has before. “Kiss the Wall” is a dynamic track lined with epic crescendos and soaring melodies as Diaz navigates new-found fame with a diary entry of an LP.

Chelsea Wolfe – “House of Self-Undoing”

She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She

All of the singles leading up to Chelsea Wolfe’s latest outing couldn’t have prepared us for the onslaught of electronic drum patterns and stunning vocal performances. She Reaches Out To She Reaches Out To She is a hypnotic outing as Wolfe’s vocals nimbly dance around unpredictable arrangements. “House of Self-Undoing” is an extreme version of the tempos and tones of this record and unlike the other 9-tracks, it never lets off the gas. Neck-breaking drums shape the track as Wolfe’s vocals deliver stunning melodies and pure poetry.

DJ Harrison – “Together”

Shades of Yesterday

Butcher Brown’s DJ Harrison yet again ventures out on his own for an LP of covers, all lined with his unique take on modern jazz and soul. Out today on Stones Throw Records, Shades of Yesterday is a delightfully light-hearted outing with covers of The Ohio Players and Donald Fagen. “Together” is Harrison’s stunning take on the Ohio Players classic as his vocal range reaches new heights over gentle horns and jazzy drums.

Declan McKenna – “Honest Test”

What Happened to the Beach?

Declan McKenna’s latest outing is a breezy endeavor that showcases a new sonic direction for the genre-less star. What Happened to the Beach has moments of pure pop bliss sitting next to off-kilter soul for an album that showcases the many sides of McKenna. “Honest Test” is some of that off-kilter soul to start your weekend with, falsettos falling like autumn leaves over a busy but never over-done arrangement.

Ducks Ltd. – “Deleted Scenes”

Harm’s Way

For their third LP, Ducks Ltd. is writing some of the best music of their career and setting it to blistering tempos. Harm’s Way is everything we could’ve asked for and more as the group enters a new era influenced by the tempos of punk and penmanship of pop. “Deleted Scenes” is a track with moving words juxtaposed by punk-influenced tones and fuzzy textures.

The Decemberists – “Burial Ground”

Single

For their first release since 2018, The Decemberists return with stunning balladry with a touch of twang. Their dusty new single “Burial Ground” deploys pop melodies over a country-influenced arrangement for a warm welcome back from the indie sweethearts.

The Lemon Twigs – “They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place”

A Dream is All We Know

Following up on their stunning 2023 LP, NYC’s The Lemon Twigs have announced A Dream is All We Know. The new album is set to be released on May 3 and our latest single is a tropical track with rocking tempos and lush vocals. “They Don’t Know How To Fall In Place” shows us the entrance to a new era of The Lemon Twigs, one that is promising to pull from surf rock while filtering it all through that signature Lemon Twigs gusto.

Marcus King – “Mood Swings”

Mood Swings

One of the most exciting singer/songwriters working today, Marcus King is gearing up for his next move. His new album Mood Swings will arrive on April 5 and is produced by Rick Rubin, the title track acts as our next single. A subtle drum pattern shapes the arrangement as King delivers infectious melodies and a smooth guitar solo to round out the stellar single.

Melvins – “Working the Ditch”

Tarantula Heart

Hard rock icons Melvins are back with what is promising to be their most ambitious album to date. Tarantula Heart is set to be released on April 19 and if the rest of the album is anywhere near our lead single, we’re in for something extraordinary. “Working the Ditch” features a dark, chugging arrangement that showcases the band’s chemistry as hauntingly beautiful vocals guide through the horror movie-inspired tones of the song.

Pissed Jeans – “Sixty-Two Thousand Dollars in Debt”

Half Divorced

Much like the title of their upcoming release, Pissed Jeans’ latest single explores the pitfalls of adulthood. “Sixty-two Thousand Dollars in Debt” is an explosive single from a highly anticipated album, the perfect recipe for an unforgettable single to guide you into the post-work week euphoria. Half Divorced is set to be released on March 1.

Mount Kimbie – “Fishbrain”

The Sunset Violent

The production duo Mount Kimbie have announced their much-buzzed-about fourth LP and its latest single is the only reason you need to mark this release on your calendar. “Fishbrain” is a subtle yet potent single with gravelly vocals to juxtapose the sharp guitar work, a duet to remember as gentle melodies help shape this track. The Sunset Violent is set to be released on April 5.

Kid Cudi & Denzel Curry – “BLACK OPS”

Single

Coming off of one of his best albums in years, Kid Cudi teams up with Florida’s Denzel Curry for a fiery new single. “BLACK OPS” showcases the natural chemistry between the two emcees as they exchange verses over a warping instrumental.

Les Savy Fav – “Legendary Tippers”

Single

For their first single in over 14 years, Les Savy Fav falls back into old tricks with a new point of view. “Legendary Tippers” takes on many forms in its three-minute runtime as the legendary band gets the red carpet treatment for their very exciting return. New music from Les Savy Fav is exciting enough but when it’s this explosive and unpredictable, it only fuels the buzz around the triumphant return.
