Manic Monday: Primus – “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” & “Tommy the Cat” Live MTV Daytona Beach Jam 1992

The history of Spring Break is a storied one, evolving (or perhaps devolving) over the years into an annual pilgrimage in which thousands of bush-league partygoers and the like descend upon Florida to get their proverbial yah-yahs out and excessively celebrate the feeling of glorious warmth and sunshine on their sun-deprived, winter-weary bodies. And, back in the day, MTV played a big role in the glorification of all things Spring Break by setting up shop in the Sunshine State for a week or two and playing host to some legendary bands that delivered some pretty awesome performances (particularly in the 90s). One such band were eternally warped and funky alt-metal titans Primus, who delighted many of those aforementioned bush-league revelers with this killer performance from Daytona Beach way back in 1992.

The trio is really clicking on all cylinders here (debatably in their prime), which is actually all the more impressive considering the fact that Les Claypool was high on acid during this performance.  Ah, the 90s. What a time to be alive. Dig it:
