LISTEN: Corey Leiter Employs Rich Psych Tinged Acoustics On “Gone”

Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Corey Leiter is releasing the follow-up to his 2022 full-length record “Fire Season” with the “White Heat” EP on Friday, July 12th, 2024, via Anxiety Blanket Records.

On his latest single “Gone,” Leiter deploys vague yet potent poetry over psychedelic-tinged acoustics. While the lyrics keep things simple, the emotions they carry are complex. Rather than being blunt in his writing, Leiter lets the longing in his vocals and the gentleness of the arrangement do the talking. On a cloud of masterful dynamics brought to you by silky guitar tones and lush keys, Leiter delivers his words with great care. Each note from the vocals falls around the folk-inspired arrangement for a mind-altering journey through the spacious yet potent art of Corey Leiter.

The “White Heat” EP is a collection of forgotten songs revitalized, a Buddhist mantra, and a cover of one of Leiter’s biggest influences. All four songs were recorded live to tape at Altamira Sound in one day, with minimal overdubs, capturing the special magic of Leiter and his bandmates Raymond Joseph, Spencer Hoffman, Doron Zounes, Aristotle Galanopoulos (all unique and incredible artists in their own right). These performances showcase the group’s dynamic and transportive abilities, which carry you gently downstream to ecstatic peaks, all the way to frenzied exorcism. It’s Leiter’s most recent attempt at merging spiritual practice with music. These songs emphasize presence and immediacy that is felt and understood.
