Hannah Delynn is a Nashville-based vocalist/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist. Originally from Florida, she found her way to Music City USA, a city she loves for its familial creative community, in 2013, by way of New Zealand, Australia, and British Columbia. Hannah’s true north has always been music and words, and a life-long love of mythical stories and mystical lore would later blossom into the discovery of songwriting.

Hannah will independently release her debut full-length album, Trust Fall, on September 5. Hannah writes about matters of the heart, and her ability and openness to view life from many angles results in songs that are emotionally engaging and captivating. This record is a testament to leaning into self-responsibility and the myriad mixed emotions that entails.

Produced by fellow songwriter Maya de Vitry, who also sings harmony and performs on the album, the pair brought together a fantastic cast of Nashville musicians to record, including further harmonies by Alex Wilder (also on piano/Wurlitzer), Ethan Jodziewicz on arco and ukulele bass, as well as cameos by John Mailander on fiddle and electronics, Jordan Tice on guitar, Annaliese Kowert on violins, and Lizzy Ross on harmony vocals.

Trust Fall is Hannah’s first full-length album. She says, “This title has been like a theme activated in almost every area of my life: career, love, family, friendship… all of it. Like I dared the universe! Be careful what you wish for; you just might get the opportunity to step into it.”

Today, Glide is offering an exclusive premiere of the standout track “For the Record.” Placing Hannah’s vocals and lyrics front and center, the song is an intimate work of folk brimming with soulful beauty. Hannah is backed by subtle, swelling orchestral textures as she sings about relationships and seeking positivity. There is a powerful sense of emotion that is conveyed through the combination of the vocals and the strings, making this a work of sparse yet bold music.

Hannah Delynn describes the inspiration behind the song:

“Relationships can be some of our most wonderful, and heartbreaking, teachers. When our vision of how a relationship could end up being decidedly different from what the other ultimately wants, how do we choose peace and forgiveness over bitterness and blame? How do we handle that with grace? How do we encourage someone in what they want when it causes us so much pain? This cacophony of feelings can cause a great deal of confusion and chaos in our minds. In mine anyway. So, for me, by communicating, ‘I want the best for you,’ I’m doing what I can to reset the energetic imbalance between myself and this other, as well as set my own conscience free of the cage of endless questioning.

It becomes a mantra or guiding light which helps to keep me from descending into self-blame and judgement. It gives me clarity in moments when I have found myself spiraling. It’s easy to slip into that space when we’re hurting.

The sentiment of ‘I want the best for you’ (for both me AND this other person) can be a buoy while trying to stay afloat in chaotic waters. It gives me hope that perhaps the future I hadn’t yet envisioned might be even sweeter.

I doubt the string arrangement could get any sweeter, though. Written by Maya de Vitry and performed by Annaliese Kowert, their arrangement tugs at my heartstrings. I’m very grateful to everyone who brought this song and message to life.”
