Bulgarian Cartrader is the genre-blurring music project of Daniel Stoyanov — a Sofia-born, South Germany-raised artist with a voice as distinctive as his backstory. From humble beginnings playing wedding gigs, Stoyanov carved out a name for himself in the music industry as a sought-after studio vocalist. His talents took him all the way to the big leagues — co-writing and performing as a background singer for stadium-filling German band SEEED, and collaborating with the likes of Solomun, Casper, Marteria, and more.

The idea for Bulgarian Cartrader came in an unexpected moment of inspiration — while delivering a car for a friend. The name stuck, and the project became a vessel for Stoyanov’s unique musical vision. After parting ways with his major-label band Malky, he disappeared into the studio, spending countless solitary days and nights writing, performing, and producing what would become his 2021 debut album, Motor Songs.

Cartrader marks his triumphant return with the pop-tinted, soulful, guitar-driven “Telecaster Warrior.” The new single is a heartfelt ballad that skates over sleek guitar melodies, creating a simplistic atmosphere with complex emotions. There are psychedelic undertones that warp the pop-leaning vocal melodies into blurs of poetic croons, seeping around the soaring guitar work in the same way rain creeps in through a cracked car window. The emotions Cartrader is trying to get across are broadcast clearly through the wistful vocal tones and acrobatic melodies. Still, lyrically, there is an even more intoxicating tale to be told. Cartrader employs potent imagery that surreptitiously connects the vast emotions detailed on “Telecaster Warrior.” Cratrader deals in longing, uncertainty, and learning to accept change, all while putting on a jaw-dropping performance that introduces the artist as a genre-blurring crooner.
