Prince Brendan lives and records in a creaky old house in Lawrence, Kansas. He plays all the analog instruments himself and is releasing a series of singles in the run-up to his debut album, Love Songs for Sickly Girls, in 2026.
The modern DIY artist’s new single, “Wrong Mountain,” is a loose and raw look into Prince Brendan’s individuality and raw aesthetic. The new single is a jangly journey through relaxed guitars that create toe-tapping tempos, throaty vocals that bend and twist, and stunning, immersive imagery. This is far from another twangy outing from a DIY artist. Prince Brendan can craft whole worlds for the listener, worlds where his refreshing rock music rings through the streets and the views are filled with wonder and color. “Wrong Mountain” explores the moment you realize a move you made was the wrong one, as we find Prince Brendan ignoring warning signs in an attempt to scale complex emotions. The lyrics employ a vague yet palpable poetry that adds another layer to an intricate, detail-oriented performance. Prince Brendan is gearing up for a major 2025, and “Wrong Mountain” establishes the artist as a freewheeling, daring figure in the DIY ethos.
“‘Wrong Mountain’ is just scruffy and is about making mistakes and probably not learning from them,” explains the artist when asked about his new single.
