The last official month of Summer has finally arrived, and it is a sad and joyous occasion all at once. While waving goodbye to summer indicates the end of ice cream cones and long vacations, it is also the chance to start anew, to rejuvenate in the solace of the sun one last time before it hides behind menacing clouds and brisk breezes. As we all enjoy the last few weeks of Summer, the new releases have yet to slow down in 2025. This week, we have stellar debuts that cross eras, experimental folk with expressive individuality, and a cornucopia of fantastic singles.

Snõõper – “Worldwide”
Worldwide
The highly anticipated follow-up to the stellar 2023 debut from punk extremist Snõõper finally has a release date and an infectious new single. Worldwide is set to be released on October 3 via Third Man Records, and the energetic title track is our lead single. “Worldwide” is a bubbly and jagged piece of modern punk with dense distortion that is sliced through with a danceable, sugary vocal performance.
The Wood Brothers – “Is It Up To You”
Puff of Smoke
Refreshing Americana trio The Wood Brothers return with another set of left-field twang built around simplistic arrangements that evoke the welcoming nature of nostalgia. Puff of Smoke is 11 soulful tunes that find the band exploring the deepest nuances of their established sound and whittling it down to its truest essence, leaving nothing but the band’s moving songwriting, rugged yet gentle vocals, and sparse acoustics to drive this LP. “Is It Up To You” is an out-of-body experience as The Wood Brothers ask reality-shattering questions over light-footed acoustics.
Travis Roberts – “I’ve Got Reasons”
Rebel Rose
The debut album from young country hopeful Travis Roberts has finally arrived, and it is as cinematic and emotional as you could hope for. Rebel Rose brings us back to a time when the balance between pop and country was an even split, as Roberts ties together 10 sweeping performances with toe-tapping tempos and personal songwriting. “I’ve Got Reasons” is a beautiful marriage of the modern with the nostalgic as Roberts spills his heart out over swelling crescendoes and thudding drums.
Joel Arnow – “You And Me”
Woken Up In Broken Places
Joel Arnow’s debut album is a sprawling effort that explores the intricacies of folk and pulls out its most colorful elements. With a sprinkle of fusion flavor and a poetic knack for songwriting, Woken Up In Broken Places is 11 tunes that introduce Arnow as a forward-thinking, empathetic artist via intimate performances that glisten under the weight of their vulnerability. “You and Me” is an airy acoustic ballad with palpable longing that arrives through wistful vocals and heartfelt songwriting.
The New Eves – “Circles”
The New Eves Is Rising
The long-awaited debut album from folk-punk outfit The New Eves is here in all its off-kilter glory. The New Eves Is Rising is the first leap into an ice-cold pool after a long, hot day, as the rejuvenating outfit shines new lights on the limits of folk and punk on a conceptual level, creating one of the most unique releases the folk world has seen in quite some time. “Circles” only scratches the surface of the freeing experimentation that shapes The New Eves Is Rising. Scorching string sections clash swords with chanting vocals for an anthematic highlight from an unforgettable LP.
Nate Currin – “Bleed”
Ghost Town

THE FUTURE IS HERE AND EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE DESTROYED
Detroit punk collective The Armed has emerged with another in-your-face, distorted journey of an album. THE FUTURE IS HERE AND EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE DESTROYED is a warped, pointed piece of punk rock stretched across 11 face-melting performances courtesy of one of the more unique sounds the punk genre has seen in years. “Local Millionaire” is an explosive stand-out on a fantastic album.
