Drew Neirin is a blues guitarist, soul singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist, based in Bath, Somerset, UK. Having grown up in Manchester, the Isle of Skye, and Worcestershire, Drew began learning music and playing the piano around the age of five, picking up the guitar at age 11. With an early love of classic blues & R&B, this became a natural starting point in the musical journey. Having been in rock, punk & metal bands throughout his teens, Drew eventually broke off to explore a solo singer-songwriter path, taking influence from predominantly acoustic sources.
On his latest single, the bluesy, groovy “So I Heard,” Neirin picks up the electric guitar for a sleek, glistening example of his balance between nostalgia and modern times. There is a familiarity to this single that is welcoming, opening the door for the listener with jumpy guitar riffs and jazzy undertones. This sparse, sonic canvas allows Neirin to paint vivid imagery with nonchalant effort. Lyrically, “So I Heard” echoes the heartbreak of nostalgic blues as the artist’s vocals fall over the smooth instrumentation, coating the infectious guitars with raw emotions. “So I Heard” brings blues tropes to modern times thanks to Neirin’s unforgettable guitar prowess and vulnerable, poetic songwriting.
