LISTEN: Vian Izak’s  “I Just Have to Be Still” Is Deeply Personal Folk Rock With Raw Songwriting

Vian Izak writes songs that say you matter in a world that says you don’t. He’s gained 100 million+ streams across platforms and played sold-out shows in North America and Europe. He self-produces and releases original music from his studio in Nashville. 100% independent, he continues to create heartfelt folk-rock songs that resonate with those seeking a sense of belonging. “I Just Have to Be Still” is the first single from his upcoming 6th album. These songs were written as a way to find hope in the darkest year of his life. He’ll be releasing a song a month until the album drops in May 2026.

The latest stop on the long journey to Izak’s next LP is an emotionally dense yet atmospheric ballad with palpable poetry. This performance introduces the artist as an emphatic songwriter unafraid to dive into great detail about harsh realities, just as much as he can bring all-encompassing feelings to vague yet potent lyrics. “I Just Have to Be Still” leans toward the latter of Izak’s songwriting tendencies, but highlights the vulnerability that the artist brings to his folk-rock prowess. “I Just Have to Be Still” finds an uplifting message in a dark time—a reason to push past the pain, knowing that one can only worry about what’s in their control—and the complexity of coming to these realizations. Izak fits all of this confusion and acceptance into a raw, cinematic folk-rock anthem on  “I Just Have to Be Still.”

“2025 was the hardest and darkest year of my life. Some days, I could barely get out of bed. But I wrote songs to process and find hope,” explains Izak. “‘I Just Have to Be Still’ is about acceptance and recognizing limitations.”
