Dean Johnson Gathers Steam, Grows Fanbase with Heartfelt Folk Performance at Portland, OR’s Revolution Hall (PHOTOS)

Seattle bartender-turned-singer/songwriter Dean Johnson and his band have been touring to support the release of his latest release, I Hope We Can Still Be Friends, the powerful follow-up to his 2023 debut Nothing for Me, Please. Luckily for music fans, Johnson had friends and music industry folks twist his arm hard enough to finally release that album during his 50th trip around the sun. Since then, his music has been connecting with lovers of sincere folk music that swings from heartbreaking love songs to humorous life observations. Johnson played at Portland, Oregon’s Revolution Hall on Thursday, November 20th and delighted the audience with a blend of his powerful songs and deadpan, self-depreciating stage banter.

French country crooner Theo Lawrence, who now resides in Austin, Texas, opened the show. It’s hard to believe that many of the spacious landscapes conjured up in his songs were dreamt up in a small Parisian apartment, but one listen to Lawrence, and you’ll understand that he’s the real deal.

Glide was on hand to capture a few images of the evening.
