LISTEN: Lost Woods Grapple With Self-doubt On Psychedelic “Slouch”

Lost Woods is an Australian indie rock band from Adelaide, SA. Led by the captivating vocalist Peter White, the group is completed by twin guitarists Tom Baird and Sam Baird, and the driving rhythm section of brothers Lucas Sly and Miles Sly. Their soaring vocals, jangly guitars, and driving rhythms have earned them a loyal fan base.

Lost Woods is slowly becoming a great hope for the Australian music scene, and their new single inches them closer to that inevitable position. “Slouch” is a sleepy, punch-drunk anthem with loose melodies that transform into honed sections of infectious undeniability, creating an intoxicating introduction to this singular band. With a pinch of contemporary rock, the band can contain their soaring melodies into digestible structures, giving “Slouch” that dream-like atmosphere that captivates the listener, while maintaining a welcoming warmth that invites us to stay. As we drift through the psychedelic undertones and sleek melodies, Lost Woods wrestles with intense self-doubt. “Slouch” finds the band analyzing their day-to-day lives and beginning to set forth on a path of correction. Therein lies the sonic conflict that makes “Slouch” such an enticing listen. As the band crafts this stunning sonic universe for us to explore, they still feel as if they should be doing more, resulting in a mesmerizing single from a promising band.

“‘Slouch’ focuses on themes of procrastination in our creative endeavours,” explains White when asked about the band’s new single. “Particularly with how crippling it can be, and no matter how much you try to overcome it, you can’t break out of that headspace. In essence, it’s about procrastination, laziness, and frustration.”
