The Motet Treats Portland, OR to a Saturday Night Jamiroquai Dance Party at The Get Down (PHOTOS/RECAP)

The Motet has, since around the turn of the century, delivered performances that bring out the spirit’s primal boogie nature and provide cathartic healing to even the most skeptical of concertgoers. On Saturday, March 21st, at Portland, Oregon’s The Get Down, a full house of celebrators let loose their love of not only The Motet, but another funky merrymaker, Jamiroquai.

Founded by drummer Dave Watts, The Motet has seen a rotating cast of musicians over the years. For this tour Watts is joined by long-time members Garret Sayers (bass), and Ryan Jalbert (guitar), relative newcomer Drew Sayers (keys, saxophone), and the band’s newest addition, Portland’s own vocal powerhouse Sarah Clarke. Keyboardist Steve “Swatkins” Watkins is also along for the majority of this spring run, filling the gap left by the recent departure of longtime keyboard player Joey Porter.

After a selection of Motet originals, the band came back for a long second set of Jamiriquai tunes. See the song selection below along with some photos from the show.
