I’m borderline obsessed with the short-lived Faces. Between the ridiculous musicianship of each band member and Rod Stewart’s appearance and stage presence, how are these guys continually overlooked? Footage from what’s billed as the Face’s Final Concert in 1974 has started to hit the ‘Tube of You, so let’s check out this clip of Keith Richards joining these guys and future bandmate Ron Wood. It’s a fantastic version of Sweet Little Rock & Roller, and it emphasizes how fucking unbelievable Ian McLagan was on the piano. Nice outfit, Rod.

I saw this tour when I was a wee lad in high school. Foghat opened for them. You’re not going to like this, but Foghat blew them off the stage. Right across the 28,000 seats of Veteran’s Memorial Coliseum. I’ll bet that night still gives Rod erectile dysfunction.
I always thought Foghat would be a great name for a dog.
I always thought Dog would make a great name for Foghat. That made no sense. Carry on.
I also don’t want to live in a world where Foghat is better than the Faces…I’m almost glad I missed that tour (or better yet, that I was negative five years old at the time).
The Faces rock faces, Ace(s). I’m with ya. Hogfat’s pretty rockin’ too… to be diplomatic.
