Moby Finishes New Album, Launches Club Night

Moby has completed work on his new album, "Last Night," due in the spring via Mute. "It’s much more electronic and dance-oriented than my last three records," the artist writes on his Web site. "I guess it’s best described as an eclectic dance record."

Two tracks are "big, piano-driven, rave anthems," according to Moby. There are also "some atmospheric songs and some techno songs that sound like buildings falling down."

"Last Night" may also include a bonus disc with "one 75-minute-long ambient piece of music," but Moby admits he has yet to compose that work.

In other news, Moby will launch a new club night, dubbed "Degenerates," on Thursday (Oct. 11) at New York’s Hiro Ballroom. The artist will DJ at each event, and will be joined at the inaugural edition by Juan MacLean, Stretch Armstrong and Alex Frankel.
