Sweedish alt rocker Paul Bäcklin has recently announced his debut album Something To Die To. Previously known as the front person of the Sony/Gain signed stoner rock/Americana band The Diamond Man Clan, Bäcklin is turning a new musical leaf that showcases him as a musical chameleon churning out blue eyed soul and street yard folk. With interesting lyriciscm and a tactual vocal release, Bäcklin sways through a colorful backdrop of guitar lines amidst a groovy rhythmic push on his latest track “Penguin” (below).

“Penguin” is a punky rock song that I wrote in a very short session. It felt very clear to me from the very first hint of the idea of how this song was supposed to be. Energetic and laid back in a weird way that keeps you from relaxing. You’re not supposed to feel 100% safe or sure about anything when you’re listening to this track,” says Bäcklin
