To excuse the tired cliche, cover albums are indeed a dime a dozen. But when LA area producer and songstress Betty Moon releases her new covers album Undercover this Friday (1.28), the 10 song effort boats of reimaginations that aren’t your typical song choices. This modern leaning batch includes Moon’s takes on several of her favorites including Sade’s “No Ordinary Love” Royal Blood’s “Boilermaker” and Depeche Mode’s “No Good”. Yes, there is no Gnarls Barkley “Crazy” on this batch, but instead, choice cuts that show Betty Moon is a vocalist that can truly make any genre her own.
Over the past 2 years, Moon has managed to stay busy in the studio and used the time to not only release two albums (Little Miss Hollywood and Cosmicoma), but also stay ahead with preparing new original music to release later in 2022. “Undercover is where my head is at right now, as I put the final touches on my next full length I was excited to let my listeners hear some of the best of my cover work as part of a collection. I’ve been taking things back to my roots and listening to some of my favorite artists of past decades to get in the vibe that you’ll hear on Undercover, which I am pretty damn proud of.“

Glide is thrilled to premiere Moon’s cover of Royal Blood’s 2021 single “Boilermaker,” a true banger if there ever was one. This buzzy track features a Yeah Yeah Yeahs static flair wrapped around a heavy tight arena rock energy that wreaks of a confident vigor.
“Boilermaker is by far one of my favorite modern rock songs. Mike Kerr (bass player/singer) of Royal Blood knows how to make huge tracks that ride on killer bass lines, in the pocket drumming and production that blows my mind. Of course, it has QOTSA vibes, which I always appreciate and I wanted to give the song a crack as well to put a Betty Moon spin on it,” says Moon.
