“Painting Over Bad Blood” from London-based artist Danny Starr, is a triumphant pop offering that presents the listener with plenty of dynamic twists and turns by way of inventive songwriting reminiscent of Ben Folds. Starr’s charismatic voice carries the song through a number of well-placed rhythmic changes and encourages us all to take control of the changes in our lives when we can by putting something good back in the world. “Painting Over Bad Blood” is off Starr’s upcoming For Hungrier Hearts EP.
“Over lockdown, my mum found herself igniting the passion for painting she’d had for years but had never had the time to regularly enjoy. She hasn’t stopped since. So this song is really for her, although I didn’t know it when writing the lyrics. This is one of those songs where the words just presented themselves to me and it was finished in a couple of hours because it really is just a true presentation of my rawest thoughts at the time,” says Starr.
