Big-hearted guitar solos, hooks, and choruses seem to be left from the world when Tom Petty left us in 2017. The big swagger and undeniable charm of thematic classic rock are missing from many Spotify playlists. Heartland Canadian indie rockers The Sarandons are working to change the way we hear hummable rock on their debut full-length album Sightlines, out on January 27th.

With the upcoming album due out Glide is premiering the song and video for The Sarandon’s “So Long,” (below) which rings home with its tantalizing song fragments that make for a radio-friendly songwriting clinic.

“Sometimes you doubt yourself and think that your younger self was a better version of you. Experience is what shapes us and we should always try and build on that,” says the video’s director Rod Hafezi.

“This song was one of the last things we worked on for this record. I remember it coming together really quickly and ultimately remaining very true to the demo arrangement. It speaks to the utility of being someone you’re not and the courage it can take to be your authentic self. It’s the duality of ‘so long’ – acknowledging things have gone on too long but also saying goodbye,” says frontman David Suchon
