WATCH: Madi Diaz Makes Late Night Debut With Emotional “Crying In Public” On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’

Continuing her takeover of 2022, Madi Diaz made her late-night debut last night (December 6) with an emotional performance of “Crying In Public” on Jimmy Kimmel Live. The track comes from her 2021 album, History of a Feeling, an album that doubled as her introduction to the spotlight. The 11-song LP was released via Anti Records in August of last year, an album of vulnerable pop ballads that opened the door for Diaz to have the accomplished year she had.

This year alone has earned Diaz the right to be considered a star. She has been tirelessly perfecting her craft since she debuted in 2007 and after a number of releases, her latest LP was the one that reinvigorated her career. Since the release of History of a Feeling, Diaz has been selling out shows around the country on her own headlining tour along with opening up for Harry Styles during his Toronto shows. The acclaim is well earned as Diaz’s songwriting is poetic in its pursuit to make sense of the full spectrum of human emotions.

Her craft is unshielded as she strummed through “Crying in Public”, a deeply sentimental cut. The deep and rich tones of her guitar act as a muted juxtaposition to her fluctuating vocals. The dimmed lights that surrounded Diaz at center stage only add to the masterfully crafted mood of the song while the harmonies she shared with her band add texture to the otherwise minimalist song.
