Opening with a perfectly dialed Brit rock throwback guitar tone quickly joined by the rest of the tastefully heavy instrumentation; The Mosfets don’t pull any punches with their new single “Sign of Affection.” The bold Bass tone is clearly defined and dances well with the straight-ahead guitar playing. There’s no hiding their strong influences of The Strokes and The White Stripes while also paying sonic homage to The Kinks and Violent Femmes with their playful heartfelt call and response. The cherry on top is a very live-sounding fuzzed-out melter of a guitar solo followed by a nice rhythm section breakdown. Expect to hear more from the Mosfets in the coming year.
This song is about A dream Keith had where he met with his childhood best friend who introduced him to his baby daughter. After being overwhelmed with happiness for him, his friend then turned on the radio and insisted he listens to a song. That’s where Keith heard “Sign Of Affection”. “I got up at 4AM and played the song on my phone. We then jammed it with the band that night. Basically, I slept my way into a new track.
