LISTEN: Daisy The Great Packs Infectious Late ’70s Soft Rock Grooves On “Looking U Up”

Brooklyn-based Daisy the Great is back with another infectious single full of polished, laid-back grooves and honest, slightly self-deprecating lyrics delivered through the tightly woven harmonies of Kelley Nicole Dugan and Mina Walker. If one were to try and encapsulate a roller skating session during a long, midsummer twilight in song, “Looking U Up” would no doubt be the result. Be on the lookout for Daisy the Great’s upcoming full-length album which is currently in the works.

“This song is about dating in a world where everyone is really accessible because of social media. So, if you have a crush on someone, you can get stuck in a loop of looking at their online presence instead of, say, getting out of bed in the morning. It’s almost like you’re conflating a phone addiction with an addiction to the person. We started writing “Looking U Up” in 2019 and it’s funny to be finishing it and putting it out now when it seems like the hold that our phones have on us is even stronger.”
