Real Ones are five childhood friends from Bergen, known as a fantastic live band and one of the most original bands in Norway. They have been going for 31 years, since they were 14. The result so far is 13 albums, 4 EPs, 2 Spellemann awards (Norwegian Grammy Awards), and over 1000 concerts in 15 countries on three continents. Real Ones continue to see smiling and dedicated audiences wherever they play: From Svalbard to Yukon to Shanghai, Mumbai to Brussels to New York.
With numerous decades under their belt, Real Ones can’t help but live up to their name. The band’s chemistry continues to shine on their latest release, the hypnotically soothing “Desilusionado.” The acoustic outing is an uplifting anthem that sways as if being kissed by Spring’s breeze, creating a soft yet urgent tune for those who need it. Despite the tender tones and sugary melodies, “Desilusionado” is a powerful tune for our turbulent world. The band throws out a life preserver for those drowning in the world’s gloom, adding an emotional and modern layer to the folksy tune. While the lyrics are the shining star here, that is not to ignore the impressive musicianship on display. The complex yet welcoming guitar riffs hit directly in the spirit, and throw a reassuring hand on your shoulder as the harmonies whisk you away to an oasis of acoustic bliss. “Desilusionado” is a modern piece of folk rock from a veteran band with nothing left to prove, leaving Real Ones the freedom to craft heartfelt, poetic songs like their latest single.
“It’s easy to feel hopeless about the state of the world today. But things have felt hopeless before, too,” explains the band. “Yet change for the better has proven to be possible time and time again, when someone has had hope that it was possible. Or as we sing in the song: ‘All the good the world’s achieved is just because someone believed.’”
