SONG PREMIERE: Jackson and the Janks Celebrate the Bother-Free Life With Loose & Lively Bar Room Rock on “I Don’t Give Any”

Jackson and the Janks are a rhythm and blues, rock and roll, and garage gospel band. Known to light up the floor with fresh and time-honored dancin’ music. Sacred steel lifting you up, and bass saxophone holding it down. The band features the extraordinary and unmistakable vocal talent of singer/guitarist Jackson Lynch, combined with the masterful and inventive musicianship displayed by each member of this uniquely arranged lineup. Jackson is inspired by classic New Orleans music, such as Bobby Charles, Irma Thomas, Smiley Lewis, and James Booker, as well as his friends’ projects, including Tuba Skinny, The Deslondes, The Loftiness, Esther Rose, and Chris Acker.

Due out June 27th, Write It Down is the new album from Jackson and The Janks, issued by Jalopy Records as a special edition 12” 45rpm vinyl with custom printed jacket art and via digital download and streaming. The 12″ 45rpm vinyl sounds amazing.

The album, recorded live to tape, features seven original songs by Jackson Lynch, as well as a deep cut cover song by Mamie Perry. Band members include Sam Doores (of The Deslondes) on drums and keys, Matt Bell (Esther Rose) on steel guitar, and Craig Flory on bass sax.

Today, Glide is excited to offer a premiere of the standout track “I Don’t Give Any,” a loose and lively barroom folk-rock tune that incorporates elements of New Orleans jazz and blues, making for a song that could bring the house down in a Big Easy bar. In typical fashion for Jackson, the song feels raw and mysterious, almost in the vein of Tom Waits, while also taking on a freewheeling and upbeat vibe.

Jackson describes the inspiration behind the tune:

“I Don’t Give Any is about not giving any (shits) and trying to get some. Being around town to have fun and have no bothers. Written on a solo two day drive back to New York, just ready to get back.”
