Alt-Country Super Group Golden Smog Announce Three December Shows

The rotating super group known as Golden Smog has announced three shows to close out 2025. The band, which will consist of Jeff Tweedy, Gary Louris, Kraig Johnson, Dan Murphy, Marc Pearlman, and Steve Gorman, took to social media to announce the string of shows. The first of which will take place on December 5 at White Eagle Hall in Jersey City, New Jersey, followed by a stop in The Bowery Ballroom in New York City on December 6, and a show at The Vic in Chicago on December 9. Tickets are available now and can be purchased through the links attached to Golden Smog’s Facebook post.

These shows will mark Golden Smog’s first, and possibly only, shows of 2025. The elusive supergroup, which began sometime in the 1980s, has only performed one show in 2024 and has only had a total of five shows since 2019. The rotating cast has grown to include members of The Replacements, The Jayhawks, Wilco, and Big Star, just to name a few. The six-piece that will be featured on the 2025 shows sees Tweedy joining the band for the first time in a long time, while the rest of the members have been seen at the shows in the past few years. With four studio albums and a tendency to cover classics, Golden Smog prepares for a rare string of shows in December.
