High school mates turned troublemakers, FIST exploded out of Newcastle’s punk and DIY scenes with sweat, blood, and no backup plan. Since 2023, the band has played over 70 shows, stormed stages at Fastlane Festival, Hellnation III, Munk & Petal, and Sydney Streets, and become regulars at venues from Newcastle’s King Street to Brisbane’s Brightside and Canberra’s Baso.
Continuing what has been a prolific and seminal year for FIST, the band releases the punchy “Tactical Error.” The ska-influenced single introduces a looser, danceable side of the band, allowing FIST to add an infectious swing to their punk fury. The jovial feel of “Tactical Error” stems from swaying bass melodies and a creative thirst for something more than is expected of the band, as they challenge themselves to reconfigure their DIY roots. The single transitions seamlessly from toe-tapping fun to searing guitar melodies that showcase the technical musicianship of FIST, proving that even in moments of fun, the band is always ready to prove itself. “Tactical Error” is another notch in the belt for the refreshing punk band FIST, a band that is coming into its own before our very ears.
