Remedies is an alt-pop/rock duo from Narvik in Northern Norway, formed in 2016. The duo consists of Tor Erik Krane Ursin (multi-instrumentalist) and Sigrid Ravn Ryan (vocalist). Their music combines elements from various genres, creating an original and dynamic soundscape. The duo composes, writes, produces, and releases their music independently. Remedies released their debut EP, Delusions, in 2019. The band’s new album, Truth for Lies, is available everywhere now.
The title track from Remedies’ latest LP is a stunning waltz that only scratches the surface of this band’s singular sound. With a swaying vocal performance that adds a breezy layer to the arrangement’s grandiose cinematography, and lyrics that toe the line between contemporary and nostalgic, “Truth for Lies” is the refreshing slice of pop the genre needs. The dramatic arrangement swells with a jazzy undertone that dances with the wistful, eerie vocals, but there is more than hits the ear on Remedies’ latest. There is a darkness to this record that is drowned out by the theatrics, yet the band wrestles with heavy emotions throughout “Truth for Lies.” The downtrodden sentiment finds the innovative band surrendering to the inevitable downsides of a fulfilling life, creating an enticing sonic conflict with the celebratory instrumentation. “Truth for Lies” beautifully details the individuality of Remedies, yet is only a hint of the magic contained on the band’s new LP.
