Bloggy Goodness: 3 Days In The Life
As if we needed another reason to hate Yoko Ono, we’ve got another one to add to our list. The widow of the late John Lennon is looking to block World Wide, a consortium of Beatles collectors, from releasing the film 3 Days In The Life. Clocking in at over two and a half hours […]
Briefly: Brokeback Hippies
Filmmaker Ang Lee has already showed us the softer side of cowboys with 2005’s Brokeback Mountain. For his next project, Taking Woodstock, Lee will return to a gay-centric story based on Eliot Tiber’s memoir. Here’s some info… “Taking Woodstock” centers on the colorful life of a Greenwich Village-based interior designer and part-time Catskills hotel manager […]
The Verve: ’90s Nostalgia Now 50% Off
Has reunion-mania finally peaked? Turns out that promoters grossly overestimated the draw of ’90s Brit-rockers The Verve, as select tickets for their April 28th and 29th shows at the WaMu Theater At MSG are now being sold for 50% off. Maybe it’s just me, but did they really think that many people were getting […]
Conor Oberst: When Solo Artists Go Solo
When the ACL lineup was announced last week there was a curious act on the bill – Connor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band. It turns out that Connor, who is better known as Bright Eyes, assembled the band for the recording of his solo debut. Oberst’s self-titled album hits stores August 5. Here’s some […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Bjork’d
I’ll be the first to admit that I don’t get Bjork and doubt that I ever will, but her latest video Wanderlust is absolutely stunning to watch. This thing clocks in at over seven and a half minutes long, so block off some time in your busy schedule and give it a watch. Check it […]
MMJ Leaks A Track From Evil Urges
It’s safe to say that My Morning Jacket’s upcoming release, Evil Urges, is probably the most highly anticipated album of the summer. As a way of satiating fans till its June 10th release Jim James & Co. have made the title track available as a free download to everyone for one week starting last Friday. […]

Bloggy Goodness: WNEW. We Play All The Hits
New York radio station WNEW has been through a lot of changes since the days when they were considered the seminal station for new and classic rock. Over the years, since abandoning it’s original format, WNEW has seen its focus shift from all talk to alternative rock. Currently 102.7 is an adult contemporary station targeting […]

In the wake of the Allmans cancellation, Superfly promised us an exciting announcement for today and here it is… The Bonnaroo Music And Arts Festival is pleased to announce that Widespread Panic will now close the 2008 festival, headlining the main stage on Sunday evening, June 15. Jack Johnson has chosen to join his friends […]
Briefly: Macca Fall Tour
High on my list of living legends that I’ve yet to see in concert is most certainly Paul McCartney (I smell a future At The BBQ with that topic). The former Beatle didn’t do much in the way of touring behind last year’s Memory Almost Full – playing just a handful of intimate shows – […]
Charlie Daniels vs. Guitar Hero
Charlie Daniels has a bone to pick with the makers of Guitar Hero after he got word that The Devil Went Down To Georgia had been included in the third installment of the game. Check out this posting from his blog…
I had a rude awakening recently when I looked at a video game.It was called Guitar Hero and is wildly popular with the younger set. I heard they had used one of my songs but I hadn’t seen it until recently and when I did I was in for some unpleasant surprises.
The game features a rock band playing heavy metal covers of different songs and enables the player to become part of the band, pushing colored buttons on a faux guitar neck which correspond with colors going by on the screen as the song plays.
Actually the game really has a dark side complete with grotesque monsters on stage with the band, strange, eerie lighting effects and all manner of weird things popping up on the stage.

Forever Young: Storytime with Uncle Zimmy
Does Bob Dylan actually sleep? Somehow between relentless touring, playing DJ on XM and winning a Pulitzer the legendary singer/songwriter managed to find some time to crank out a children’s book based on the lyrics to his classic song from Planet Waves, Forever Young. Here’s some info (via Uncut)… Bob Dylan‘s song lyrics for 1974 […]
Gov’t Mule: Holy Haunted House
While the Allman Brothers are out of commission for a little bit, the hardest working man in jam’s other band is currently on a month long tour leading up to the fourth annual Mountain Jam – which is set to take place from May 30th – June 1st. Gov’t Mule has also announced the release […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Norwegian Prog Rock
Last week we brought you that zany video from Galactic, but this week we have one that may top that. This one is from Norwegian prog-rockers Ungdomskulen with their mesmerizing, acid drenched clip for Modern Drummer – which looks like it belongs on a some cheap cable public access show circa 1995. I know nothing […]
Allmans Take One Way Out of Bonnaroo
More unfortunate news came out of the Allman Brothers Band camp yesterday, as the band decided to pull out of their scheduled performance at Bonnaroo. Unfortunately, Gregg Allman needs more time to continue recovering from treatment for Hepatitis C. As we previously reported, the band also postponed their annual Beacon run for the same reason. […]
New Book: Do You Remember Rock Radio?
We’re ardent supporters of the theory that mega-corp Clear Channel unleashed a systematic deconstruction of radio stations around the country. For everyone out there looking for some summer reading on the subject, there’s a new book hitting shelves this week entitled Right Of The Dial: The Rise Of Clear Channel & The Fall Of Commercial […]
Grace Potter: Hail To The Red, White & Blue
We’re feeling all patriotic today thanks to these jaw dropping Grace Potter photos:

Tour Dates: It’s Business Time
Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement, better known as Flight of the Conchords, will release their full length debut on April 22. And come this May the Aucklanders will hit the theater circuit bringing New Zealand’s fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo to select cities. I have a feeling they probably won’t have to […]
Bloggy Goodness: Rock And Hard Place
Maybe because we’ve been reporting about the endless stream of festival announcements we let this slip by, but I was totally unaware that their was even such a thing as Hard Rock Park – located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The world’s first Rock & Roll Theme Park features attractions with names like Led Zeppelin […]
Pullin’ ‘Tubes: Land Of The Lost
I’m trying to find the best way to ease into this one, but I barely have words to describe Galactic’s video for Hustle Up. It’s one of the most frighteningly bizarre things I’ve seen in awhile. Even more bizarre than the Chinese MC Hammer. The clip features a breaking dancing pterodactyl in a kitchen cooking […]
