Afterparties Aplenty For This Weekend’s STS9 Red Rocks Run

With three, highly anticipated Front Range shows this weekend, beginning with the sold-out Fan Appreciation show at the Ogden Theater in Denver and continuing on through a two night headlining stint at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre, the STS9 contingent will find plenty of activities to enjoy after the band’s official shows end.  While the band is sure to blow minds and open some ears over the course of three nights, when the official shows end is when the real party begins.

            Euphonic Conception presents Re:Creation Thursday night at Club 2AM in downtown Denver, kicking off a weekend of post-show musical madness.  Thursday night’s exhausting escapades begin directly after the STS9 Odgen Theater show featuring Bluetech, Eliot Lipp and British-bred Bonobo.  Lipp begins the party with his eclectic, broke-beat barrage before the melodiously mesmerizing Bonobo drops a two-hour seduction set of pure musical bliss.  Capping off the evening (or morning at that) will be Bluetech, whose psy-dub techniques offer a rather fitting conclusion (6 in the morning) to an eventful first night.

            After STS9’s first of two nights at Red Rocks, fans will be flocking back to Boulder for another Re:Creation event featuring several more premier electronic acts.  Boulder locals GSP begin at the Boulder Theater at 11pm sharp, setting the tone before fans at the Rocks begin to dissipate.  Again, Eliot Lipp, who is spinning that night between STS9 sets, will drop a concise DJ set before Alex Botwin and Lane Shaw of the Pnuma Trio arrive to pump the walls of the Theater with a PA set full of hip hop and drum n’ bass beats sure to keep the drive alive just in time for the evening’s guest of honor, Prefuse 73 and Ryan Rasheed (of Eastern Developments).  Straight from Atlanta, Prefuse 73 is a master of trades, slicing up serious snacks of glitched-out poly-phonics leading a tirade of beat deliciousness.  But wait, the party isn’t over yet, as TELEFON TEL AVIV hits the stage shortly thereafter, where their luxurious lap tops will stimulate the crowd right up until the 5 AM curfew.
