The Celebrate Brooklyn! concert series in Prospect Park will mark its 30th birthday this summer via a typically eclectic slate of performances. Isaac Hayes will kick off the season, which is sponsored by Starbucks, with a June 12 performance.
Also confirmed to appear throughout the summer are Beth Orton (July 12), Medeski Martin & Wood with Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog (June 19), Cold War Kids (June 27), Brazilian Girls (July 11) and Deerhoof and the Metropolis Ensemble (performing Stravinsky’s "Rite of Spring").
South African legend Miriam Makeba will perform June 14, while salsa star Michael Stuart plays on July 5. Jerry Douglas and Holmes Brothers will visit the Prospect Park Bandshell on July 17, while Karsh Kale will premiere his live score for Bruce Lee’s "Enter the Dragon" on July 19.
The season will close Aug. 9 with a multi-artist tribute to Bill Withers, steered by Hal Willner.
