Guided by Voices Break Up….. Again

Guided by Voices have once again split up. The indie rock band led by Robert Pollard announced this afternoon that GBV “has come to an end.” The same goes for its fall tour plans, which have been canceled.

The prolific group formed in the early ’80s in Dayton, Ohio, and put out more than a dozen albums before its first breakup in 2004. The classic lineup reunited in 2010 with Pollard joined by Tobin Sprout and Charles “Mitch” Mitchell on guitar, Greg Demos on bass and Kevin Fennel on drums.

The following statement was posted today on GBV’s website and Facebook page along with the fitting “CLOSED” image.

“Guided By Voices has come to an end. With 4 years of great shows and six killer albums, it was a hell of a comeback run. The remaining shows in the next two months are unfortunately canceled. Our sincere apologies to those that have purchased tickets and made travel plans. Thanks to everyone who has supported GBV.”
