The Jazz Foundation of America’s 13th Annual “Great Night in Harlem” Gala concert was held at the historic Apollo theater in NYC on 10/23/14/ The foundation’s honoree this year was Herbie Hancock, receiving the lifetime achievement award from Quincy Jones. The concert included a tribute to late trumpeter Clark Terry and Maurice White (Earth, Wind and Fire). Musical performers included upcoming Cuban pianist Jorge Pacheco, child prodigies Matthew Whitaker and Joey Alexander, Jimmy Heath, Albert ‘Tootie’ Heath, Wallace Roney, Bennie Maupin, Buster Williams, Eddie Henderson, Julian Priester, Billy Hart, Steve Jordan, Clifton Anderson, Mike Williams, Ron Blake, Eddie Allen, Greg Pittman, James Genus, Mike Willaims, Bruce Willis, Charles Bradley and Susan Tedeschi with appearances by Questlove.
