One story that’s slipped through most of the live music blogging cracks this week is the demise of another famed outdoor venue: Antioch’s Starwood Amphitheatre.
According to the Tennessean, “Starwood Amphitheatre in Antioch has been closed by its parent company, Live Nation, in advance of a likely sale to an undisclosed buyer, a company spokesman confirmed today.”

We’d like to report that the buyer is another entertainment company that will operate the existing venue, but that appears to simply be wishful thinking:
The company also confirmed that the potential buyer is not an entertainment company, suggesting that the land will likely go to a real estate developer. Live Nation declined to identify who may be on the other end of the deal or an ageed-upon price for the site.
With the recent demise of Deer Creek and the talk of other storied outdoor venues up for sale, it’s a tough time to think about booking another Zooma Tour. Final setlist: Starwood -> First American -> AmSouth -> Starwood -> Nothingness.
