One of the odder releases hitting record store shelves in a few short weeks is Anywhere I Lay My Head – the debut album from hottie starlet Scarlett Johansson. The odd part isn’t the fact that an actress is putting out a record, it’s the fact that this project consists solely of Tom Waits covers.
While ScarJo may be able to read the phone book and make it sound sexy, we’re not too sure about her singing chops. Check out her debut video for Falling Down, a song that first appeared on Big Time, and see for yourself:

I won’t pass full judgment until hearing the entire album, but that’s slightly painful. Give a listen to the original – which is equally rough sounding, but in a good way. Well, that is if you dig Tom Waits and his Cookie Monster-esque vocals.
In other Waits news, the singer-songwriter held a mock press conference this morning to announce tour dates that in his words “the route forms the constellation Hydra.” Apparently NYC doesn’t fit into the constellation for now.

Fairly painful to watch, had to stop halfway through and put on a Waits version from 2006 Akron, OH. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaits. What a fantastic musician.
Her tits are far superior to Tom Waits.
Beats O.A.R.!
