If commercial success was based on talent and innovation the Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey would be one of the biggest bands in the country. These guys take their unique version of jazz to a whole new level. The band recently completed a U.S. tour that brought them to Chris’ Jazz Cafe in Philadelphia on October 9. Videographer extraordinaire Jake Krolick was on hand to film the highlights from a fantastic evening in Philly.
The clip starts with the trio killin’ Tae Parade from their latest album, Little Tae Rides Again. Throughout this kickass ten-minute video pianist Brian Haas displays a fierce virtuosity, bassist Reed Mathis shows why he’s one of the best lead bassists in the game and drummer Josh Raymer gets a big sound with his delicate touch on the kit. Along with some JFJO originals, the trio also hits upon The Beatles’ Happiness Is A Warm Gun. JFJO is currently in the middle of a tour of Europe, where you can catch ’em in Stockholm, Sweden on Thursday at the Glen Miller Cafe. Check it…
