While his band, Minibar, is on hiatus, Simon Petty has resurfaced, recording under the alias Solomon’s Seal. His solo offering, The Sea, The Sea, is a collection of mostly delicate acoustic tunes that tug at the soul and bring a sense of wonder. “Sleeping in the Car” and “State of the Union Address” complement each other in ways only good music can—with tender fingerpicking and lyrics that ring true, Petty has written and recorded two tunes that will almost surely stand the acoustic test of time. Do yourself a favor and find this album.
