As part of the April issue of Esquire, the almost 80 year-old men’s culture magazine asked five singer-songwriters to take part in their Esquire Songwriting Challenge by inviting them to the Shack-Up Inn in Clarksdale, Mississippi to take part in a two-day fashion shoot with photographer Danny Clinch. The challenge called for each artist to write and record an original song with lyrics that included the phrase – Somewhere in Mississippi.
Among those to participate was our slacker-rocker turned country singer Ben Kweller whose song It All Happened will be made available as part of an exclusive five-song free digital EP starting April 5 along with tunes from Dierks Bentley, Charlie Mars, Bob Schneider and Griffin House.

Back in 1986, venerable Americana act The Jayhawks released their self-titled debut via Bunkhouse Records – who only pressed 2,000 copies on vinyl. The long out of print & hard to find album, will finally be released on CD and digital formats for the first time ever, and re-issued on vinyl courtesy of Lost Highway on May 18. The album is said to have a sound closer to Gram Parsons & The Flying Burrito Brothers, than their later roots-rock sound.
